Miss Russia 2009

Sofia Rudieva, 18 and stands 5'10" from St. Petersburg won the title of Miss Russia. She was elected from 50 most beautiful women in the country which was held at Manezh Exhibition Hall in downtown Moscow.

She was crowned by last year's Miss Russia and reigning Miss World Ksenia Sukhinova and the current Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela.

She will be reprenting Russia in the upcoming Miss Universe and Miss World.

Miss Korea 2009

Ree Na, a 23 year old graduate of Yonsei University was crowned as the new Miss Korea last August 6, 2008 at the Seoul Sejong Center. She won 10 million won equivalent to 9800 US dollars.

Miss France 2009

19 year old biracial and binational Chloe Motaud bested 35 other candidates of Miss France 2009. She is from the province of Albigeous-Midi Pyrenées and can speak 4 language such as french, english, spanish and chinese.

She's born to an african-american mother and white french father. She was born in Mississippi and grew up in California.

Miss South Africa 2009

Tatum Keshwar is 24 and has a Psychology Degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She lives with her family in Durban and loves spending time in Florida Road, Morningside because there are so many great places to eat, catch up with friends and enjoy the sunshine.

She will represent South Africa in the Miss Universe and the Miss World this year

Miss Venezuela 2009

Stefania Fernandez of Trujillo is a 17-year old brunette won the Miss Venezuela Pageant. She stands 5'10" (178cm) tall and has brown eyes and hair. She won the “Miss Elegance”, “Best Body” and “Best Face”, titles at Miss Venezuela 2008 that lasted four hours.

Señorita Colombia

21 year old Michelle Rouilard from Popayan bested 25 other beautiful ladies from Colombia and will represent Colombia in the upcoming Miss Universe in the Bahamas on August 30, 2009. She studies International Business in Montreal, Canada. She speaks Spanish, English and French.

Miss Israel 2009

Yulia Liubianitzki, 20 years old from Haifa, won this years Miss Israel and will represent Israel in the Miss Universe pageant this August.

Miss Bulagaria Universe 2009

Candidate no 4 of the miss bulgaria 20009 Elista Lubenova became the 1st runner up and will represent Bulgaria to the Miss Universe which will be held in the beautiful paradise island of the Bahamas.

Miss Angola 2009

21 year old Nelsa Suraia Pombal Alves of Luanda bested 20 lovely ladies from the different part of this french speaking African country last December 20, 2008 held at Cine Atlantico. She won a brand new car, US$300 and some jewelry. She will represent Angola in the Miss Universe Pageant in the Bahamas this August 30, 2009. 1st runner up is Jesinalda Silva who will compete in the Miss World 2009 in South Africa this December and the 2nd runner up is Ilma Leonalo candidate for Miss Tourism Queen International this May. Another Manalo won the beauty pageant scene. The older sister, Katherine Anne Ramos Manalo; Bb. Pilipinas - World 2002 (10th placer to the Miss World 2002). She won 9 special award during the Bb Pilipinas Pageant and she even graduated Cum Laude. And now, the younger sister, Pamela Bianca Ramos Manalo, will try her luck in the upcoming 2009 Miss Universe which will be held in Atlantis Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas. She won the best in Swimsuit award in the recent Binibining Pilipinas and the sponsors honor award. She is an advertising graduate from the Assumption College and works as a flight attendant.

Gemma Teresa Cruz is the first Filipina and Asian to win the Miss International title.

starting out

I was very facinated with beauty pageants. From the big 4 pageants to our local binibining pilipinas beauty pageant. It started when I was in second year high school after Sharmaine Rama Gutierez won as the second princess and the queen of asia and the pacific on the 43rd edition of miss world held in the beautiful country of south africa. Until then, i started gathering clippings of beauty pageant results from magazines and newspapers. I even asked my classmate to tore a page i saw in our school library. 1994, when the miss universe pageant was held again in our country, i wrote the local organizer and they sent me the programme but unfortunately, my bestfriend lost it. Day after day i use to visit a local bookstore trying my luck to find a magazine with beauty pageant news. I was so surprised when i saw the pageantry magazine (subscriptions please, harhar!) 50 pesos a copy. Since then i dont miss every single pageant on tv. So guys, start visiting my spot for updates and trivias. Ü
